Tour in Terceira, Azzorre
I had a few days off from work and I needed to escape somewhere.
The choices could have been many, but as usual in my life, time wasn’t helping me to book a nice trip without wasting money, so, one week before to go, the only place with an affordable price was Terceira!! Ok… Azzorre!!
According to Wikipedia, Terceira (Portuguese pronunciation: [tɨɾˈsɐjɾɐ]) is an island in the Azores archipelago, in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the larger islands of the archipelago, with a population of 56,000 inhabitants in an area of approximately 396.75 square kilometers (153.19 square miles). It is the location of the Azores’ oldest city, Angra do Heroísmo, the historical capital of the archipelago and UNESCO World Heritage Site; the seat of the judicial system (Supreme Court); and the main base of the Azores Air Zone Command (Portuguese: Comando da Zona Aérea dos Açores), Base Aérea nº 4, and a United States Air Force detachment.
Having only 2 days and the first wasted thank the flu I was facing since a few days already … no comment …, only one day could had been spent visiting the island.
What to do? How to do?
Simple, I went for a tour with an amazing tour company and her amazing tour guide!
We’ve been visiting many places and those who impressed me more was the “miraduro” where is possible to see so much green in contrast with the blue of the sky and the ocean.
The volcano … oh the volcano … is one of the three volcano on the world that is possible to visit inside and is very impressive!
Volcanic gas vents. The temperatures of some of them are quite high (around 95°C at the surface to about 130°C at half a meter depth). The emissions consist essentially of carbon dioxide (c. 95%), hydrogen sulfide (c. 3%), sulfur dioxide, hydrogen, nitrogen, methane and traces of others. So you can see them and smell them, I found this very surprising and something absolutely to see.
